This is a St. Patrick’s day inspired ice cream that we created to give you a healthy and fun green treat to celebrate!
This ice cream is great because it’s dairy free, has no added sugar and is loaded with phytonutrients from spirulina and spinach! We also add a dose of fat with avocado to keep your blood sugar balanced.
Fats slow the absorption of food, so it’s important that the avocado is added so that you are not just eating a high sugar snack with the bananas. The spirulina also adds small amounts of fats and proteins, which also helps balance your blood sugar.
Bananas are also quite inexpensive, so you an make this for about $1-2, which is much cheaper than a tub of ice cream…especially a health ice cream.
- 3 small, ripe, frozen bananas
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 tbsp spirulina
- 1 pinch sea salt
- optional: dates, vanilla, stevia…
- Combine all ingredients in a blender.
- Blend until smooth!
