TESTIMONIALS
“When I met Blair, I was hoping she could help me tweak some of my eating habits. Over the course of a month, she not only tweaked my eating habits, she changed my perception on foods. Blair pointed out that I was not getting enough healthy fat or proteins and broke down the ingredients and toxins in my current diet. She gave me great suggestions, ideas and recipes, which led me to appreciate food in a different light. She also taught me the importance of knowing where food comes from and that it doesn’t have to break the bank. At the end of working with her, I felt more balanced and satisfied. I truly appreciate all of her recommendations and I love her blog!” -AL
“The ‘Anti-inflammatory Guide to Whole Health’ would be a great help to anyone looking to get serious about changing their diet. On a more personal level, after 9 months or so of me eating cleaner after working with Blair, I feel pretty amazing. I’ve been doing a lot of hiking and travelling lately and the pain in my knees is almost non-existent now.” -Spencer, 25
“After working with Blair for a couple of months, I felt better than I knew was possible. I was amazed that I could feel as good as I did, which encouraged me to continue to make the changes that she recommended so I could see just how great I was able to feel when I honored my body and treated it well!” -SB
“I was 24 years old and a few months away from my 25th birthday when I started working with Blair in March of this year. I have always lived an active lifestyle and had an affinity for playing sports. After playing four years of football at Wake Forest I eventually got a job as a pit crew member at Hendrick Motorsports. My job at Hendrick allows me stay active with daily workouts and practices. Towards the end of my playing days at Wake Forest I started to notice that my joints started to hurt more, particularly in my knees. Also, I noticed that my energy levels started to diminish. At first I thought maybe these were just symptoms of me not being a teenager anymore. As time wore on and I started working at Hendrick Motorsports, the pain in my knees kept getting worse. Also, I found that when I got home from work I barely had energy to cook dinner or do anything productive. I figured my feelings of depletion were just from all the expended energy at work. What concerned me more was the pain in my knees. Since I like to stay active and work out I figured the knee pain was just due to overtraining. I took time off which never really helped. I saw orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists who kept telling me to stretch and foam roll because the knee pain was probably attributed to tight muscles (which I did have but definitely was not the entire problem). The stretching and foam rolling (along with icing my knees) helped a little but I felt like I was just putting a band aid on the problem and not addressing the real issue.
I’ve always considered myself to have somewhat of a healthy diet. I definitely had an institutionalized view on the definition of “healthy diet.” By this I mean that I tried to have all of the food groups in the food pyramid every day with the most importance on grains and dairy. I never followed a strict regimen of what was going into my body because I figured that with how active I am it would never really matter. I had read of athletes like Tony Gonzalez, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady totally revamping their diet and saying that they have never felt better. Being in my mid 20’s, I figured that this did not apply to me because I was supposed to be in my athletic prime and if I just maybe took more time off or adjusted my workouts then the pain would eventually go away.
I worked with Blair for 12 weeks and I can honestly say it has changed my life. Before we officially started Blair made sure that this was not just a fad or a phase for me and that I was fully committed. She made sure that I fully understood that in order to see change and experience substantial results, you have to invest deeply in yourself and stay committed to the process. Throughout the entire 12 weeks Blair did so much more than just give me nutritional advice. We talked for about an hour during every one of our sessions where she did an excellent job explaining why certain foods made me feel a certain way and how certain foods could boost energy or reduce inflammation. During this process I learned a ton about nutrition and its effects on my body that I would not have known otherwise. Also, after every one of our talks she would send an extensive email outlining what we talked about, the successes and difficulties from the previous week, dietary and lifestyle recommendations for the following week, and delicious recipes to try out.
Another aspect to Blair’s approach that I really appreciate is her focus on the mind-body connection. She gave me lots of helpful tips to help reduce stress, connect with my mind, and be present in the moment. Oftentimes we don’t realize just how big of an impact the wellness of our mind can have on our physical wellness. She helped me come up with a better way to plan out my day so that I have more time for me to focus on my mental awareness, improve my physical health, and improve my sleep habits. I found that the more mentally aware I was, the less stressed I was, the more productive I was, and the more I enjoyed each day no matter what the circumstances were. Blair obviously helped me improve my physical health through better nutrition but I was really grateful for her help in finding me other ways to conquer my issue of joint pain. She suggested articles for me to read and a book for me to buy. The book basically shows you how to lift and perform athletic movements properly. It is also a great tool because of the hundreds of exercises it has in it to help you improve mobility in all of your joints and live pain free. And finally Blair helped me improve my sleep habits by coming up with a better nighttime routine for me. Through this I found that I was able to fall asleep faster and sleep better throughout the night.
How I feel now compared to how I felt 6 months ago is night and day! I have much more energy than I used to, I no longer have my debilitating knee pain, and I’ve lost weight in the process. In the end, I couldn’t be more pleased that I decided to contact Blair and seek her help. If anyone out there is looking to change their life and improve their total body wellness, I would highly recommend contacting Blair and seeking her advice!” -Spencer, 25
